                          POLICE RESERVE PROGRAM

PURPOSE:
The Winona Police Reserve Unit is comprised of civilian volunteers. The purpose of the Winona Police Department Reserve Unit is to support the Winona Police Department in fulfilling its goal of serving the citizens of Winona.

RECRUITMENT:
Applications for the Winona Police Department Reserve Unit are available from the Winona Police Department, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. 

MINIMUM MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS FOR THE WINONA POLICE RESERVES:

Must be at least eighteen years of age.
Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED.
Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license.
Must be willing to complete necessary training in First Aid and CPR.
Must be willing to submit to a complete background check from local records,

Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Must be willing to work a minimum of four hours a month at Reserve functions.
Must be willing to work at the Winona Area Jaycees Steamboat Days celebration.

WINONA POLICE DEPARTMENT RESERVE DUTIES:

Assist the Winona Police Department in any way necessary, in accordance with Minnesota State Statutes.
Perform crowd control and security at community and school functions. The majority of these functions are sporting events and dances sponsored by the various schools in Winona.
Assist as needed, at the weeklong, Steamboat Days celebration.
Maintain an "on-call" status for any emergency situations that arise in the City of Winona.
Ride with sworn officers of the Winona Police Department and assist them as needed.

Ride-a-long Program:
This program provides an opportunity for adult citizens of Winona to ride along with a Police Officer.  Applications are available by contacting the Police receptionist during regular business hours.
